WORTH PARK DISTRICT RECEIVES $600,000 OSLAD GRANT FOR DEVELOPMENT OF GALE MOORE PARK

The Worth Park District is proud to announce that it has been selected to receive a $600,000 (six hundred thousand)

Open Space Land Acquisition and Development (OSLAD) grant from the State of Illinois.
This funding will support a major improvement project at Gale Moore Park, located at 109th Street and Nordica Avenue.
Governor JB Pritzker and the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) recently awarded $36 million to 67 communities statewide to support local park development through the latest round of OSLAD grants.
Established by the Illinois General Assembly in 1986, OSLAD is a cost‑sharing program that helps communities acquire land and develop outdoor recreational spaces. It has become one of the most widely supported park funding programs in Illinois, awarding more than $640 million for park projects since its creation.
Guided by valuable feedback from residents gathered during the Park District’s master planning process, the planned improvements for Gale Moore Park include an eight foot wide pedestrian path encircling the park, an embankment slide and rope tow climber, a nature and tree canopy climbing area, and a raised tree deck.
Project timelines are dependent on receiving the final grant contract from IDNR. Once approved, the Worth Park District anticipates beginning and completing the development in 2027.
